La Carrera de las Madres 5K made its inaugural debut on May 9, 2026, bringing together nearly 2,000 runners, walkers, families, volunteers, and community partners in Chicago’s Archer Heights neighborhood to celebrate the mothers, abuelas, tias, mentors, and caregivers who shape our lives. The event transformed the Southwest Side into a vibrant celebration of wellness, culture, and family, with participants of all ages filling the streets alongside music, local vendors, folklórico performances, and a festive finish line celebration. More than just a race, La Carrera de las Madres served as a fundraiser supporting UNO’s GirlsMpowered and RunHER programs, helping provide mentorship, leadership development, and wellness opportunities for girls across Chicago.
